The QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) is a non-profit organisation (NPO 000-881) which represents quadriplegics and paraplegics in South Africa. QASA’s mission is to be an effective coordinating, policy-making and supporting organisation striving to prevent spinal cord injury and to promote and protect the interests of people with mobility impairments through advocacy, lobbying and delivery of services and products to people with disabilities.
QASA currently has three vacancies and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply:

 

NATIONAL ACCESS AUTHORITY (NAA) – Access Officer
The National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA) and QASA are looking for an Access Officer to administer and coordinate the National
Access Authority (NAA). The NAA Access Officer will be responsible for the promotion of the principles of universal design for accessible environments and following up on
access issues to ensure compliance with legislation.
The candidate is required to have an understanding of: disability issues, Universal Design Principles, the National Building Regulations and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Public relations experience and the ability to
read architectural plans would be an advantage.

NCPPDSA / QASA – Employment Officer
The National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA) and QASA are looking for an Employment Officer to promote and secure employment for persons with disabilities in South Africa.
The candidate is required to have an understanding of disability issues, a human resources qualification and/or experience and strong administrative skills. Public relations experience and the ability to conduct training workshops would be an advantage.

QASA Deputy Director
The QASA Deputy Director will be fully accountable for fulfilling the vision and mission of QASA within the defined areas and provide a supporting role to the National Director. This high profile position would suit a results driven professional with strong
communication, leadership skills and strong stakeholder management ability.
The candidate must be energetic, have entrepreneurial abilities, an outgoing personality, be prepared to work long hours, travel extensively, have excellent communication abilities, the ability to work with, manage and motivate staff, have leadership abilities, be computer literate and have a passion for disability. The candidate must also have management, PR/marketing and proven fundraising and project management experience.
An understanding of disability issues and legislation pertaining to disability will be an advantage, as well as the ability to interpret balance sheets / financial statements and to make financial decisions.
