For the second year, QASA held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually on the Zoom platform. On Saturday, 18 September 2021, QASA staff, members and regional associations signed in to get an update on the organisation’s activities, finances and management.

During the event, QASA treasurer Richard Barron broke down the organisation’s finances. Despite the global pandemic and national lockdown, which impacted on QASA’s ability to raise funds, the organisation ended the financial year in a better standing than the previous year. This was largely due to a cut in expenses.

Chairperson, Simon Manganye, discussed both the successes of the organisation – such as the Work Readiness Programme, which was described as the flagship project – and the challenges facing the organisation – such as the financial support requested by regional associations.

In his address, QASA COO Raven Benny comforted QASA members by reiterating the organisation’s commitment to ensuring “that all South Africans quadriplegics and paraplegics will live their lives to their full potential”.
