Afrika Tikkun is an organisation focused on child and youth development. In July, it hosted its inaugural Disability Day of Celebrating Abilities at Cirk in Cresta.
The event brought together youth, families, staff and partners in a vibrant celebration of ability, resilience, and community. The theme, “Beauty in Ability”, echoed Afrika Tikkun’s core belief that every young person, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to thrive.
The event created a platform for young people with disabilities to strengthen their personal identity, boost confidence and nurture self-worth. Through moving stories and dynamic talent showcases, attendees were inspired to challenge societal attitudes and misconceptions about disability.
“This day was about more than just celebration it was about recognising the strength, talent and potential within every young person, regardless of ability,” said Lana Roy, head of disability and inclusion at Afrika Tikkun.
The success of the day sets a new benchmark for inclusive programming and community engagement at Afrika Tikkun. As the organisation continues to expand its impact, it remains dedicated to empowering youth, fostering hope, and building sustainable futures for all.
