The Little Eden CEO Wheelchair Campaign officially launched on 27 February at Eastgate Mall. To kick off the campaign, several CEOs attempted to navigate the shopping centre in wheelchairs. This included getting from the top floor to the bottom, making a purchase, playing a game of Uno and getting onto a stage with a temporary ramp.

“It was fantastic to witness how the CEOs navigated the Eastgate Mall during the launch, and how only a few hours could shift opinions,” says Mandy Latimore, universal access specialist and Rolling Inspiration contributor. Mandy attended the event on the magazine’s behalf.

Participating CEOs included Nicola Iozzo from Montblanc Financial Services, Eugene Herbert from Masterdrive and Richard Janse van Rensburg from Liqui Moli.

The campaign will run for the month of March and CEOs are encouraged to donate and participate. Leaders will spend a full workday in a wheelchair, navigating offices, meetings and routines. Business leaders are encouraged to donate R55 000, small enterprises can donate R35 000 with individuals donating R15 000.

All funds raised will go towards the care of the 300 residents with disabilities at Little Eden. For more information on the event, or to participate, contact Little Eden on ceowc@littleeden.org.za or visit the website at www.littleeden.org.za.
