For Michael Potgieter, simple outings are challenging as he struggles to be safety transferred in and out of standard vehicles. He has cerebral palsy and is prone to frequent seizures. As a result, he often sustains head injuries while being transferred.
To provide him with better transport, his mother, Stella, has started a BackaBuddy campaign in the hope of purchasing a wheelchair-accessible van with a lift that will ensure safe, dignified transport for Michael. Since the loss of her husband, Stella has been caring for Michael alone.
“At the end of every day, love keeps us going – even when the body is tired,” Stella shares.
She calls on the community to support her mission by either donating to the BackaBuddy campaign, or sharing their story so that it might reach those who can assist. Find the campaign here.
