The EARTH Centre, located in Ruimsig, Johannesburg, offers various therapy programmes using horses for people with disabilities. The Centre took inspiration from the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA) Gauteng.
On Saturday, October 27, the centre held its 10th Fun and Market Day. The Centre transformed into a wonderful venue for families and friends to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. More than 400 visitors came to browse a variety of stalls and interact with the Centre’s mini donkeys and ponies. The equines worked very hard, providing kids with rides, while others, along with our riders with disabilities, entertained the crowds.
“Riders from all 10 schools that ride with us took part. There were two very exciting performances. Wihan Ras put on an unbelievable jumping display with his horse Ari and our special guests, Enos Mofakate and the kids from Soweto Equestrian Centre, wowed us with their award-winning vaulting displays,” said Nicole Ras, marketing manager of the Centre.
On behalf of the Centre, she thanked the sponsors, participants and public who supported the Fun Day, and R35 000 was raised. If you missed out on the day of fun-filled horse riding, you can join in next year!
