The 2025 Wings for Life World Run saw 310 719 people, including 1 838 wheelchair users, race for those who can’t. The event raised 8,6 million euros (R177 million) – all of which will be used to fund research to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

As there is no finish line, and you are aiming to outrace the Catcher Car, participants of all fitness levels could join. Some walked, some jogged, and some very impressive individuals ran marathons. The top athletes in South Africa participated in Centurion with Yolande Maclean running an impressive 37,19 kilometres (km) in the female division, and Sipho Godwin Mqati running 47,77 km to rank first nationally and in the male division.

Esther Pfeiffer from Germany was the world number one in the female category with 59,03 km (ranking 22nd overall), while Jo Fukuda (from Japan) was the global winner of the event with an incredible 71,67 km!

Well done and a big thank you to all the participants who assisted with raising funds to find the cure for spinal cord injury. Find more highlights and results from the race on the Wings for Life World Run website.
