A team of runners participating in the Cape Town marathon, 18 to 19 October, aim to raise crucial funding for Zimele – a non-profit organisation that provides comprehensive prosthetic rehabilitation for adult from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The team includes Dr Sarah Whitehead, co-leader for Zimele and a person with a mobility impairment. Dr Whitehead will participate in a hand cycle with her team assisting with pushing her as she hasn’t participated in a race before.

The goal is to raise awareness and understanding around disability: “There’s still plenty of ability in a person with a disability – it just takes a bit of support and encouragement from a team”.

Donations can be made on the Zimele Given Gain page. Follow along with the work that the team is doing on the Zimele Facebook Page.
