The annual Wings for Life World Run returns on Sunday, 5 May 2024. The global event is aimed at raising funds to find a cure for spinal cord injuries with all entries going to the Wings for Life Foundation, which funds several research programmes.
The event can be joined in-person at several locations across the globe, or run virtually with the Wings for Life World Run App.

Some big sports starts are participating this year and you can join their team, including South African rugby icon Siya Kolisi!
According to a statement released by the Wings for Life World Run:
“Thanks to the Wings for Life World Run App, you can run together with your favourite team no matter where you are. Siya, the ground breaking South African team captain who led the Springboks to consecutive Rugby World Cup titles in 2019 and 2023, will be participating from his current location in Paris, but he’ll be side-by-side with his team virtually whether they’re in France, back home in South Africa or elsewhere.”
Siya was quoted as saying: “When you join the Wings for Life World Run, it’s exciting: You’re doing something that’s benefiting others, but it’s also going to benefit you, too. Just like when I prepare for a game, it gives you something you can train for. It’s an awesome challenge for yourself, to see how healthy you can be while you’re helping someone else. The nice thing is that anybody can do it. You don’t have to be someone who runs every day. You don’t even have to run – you can just walk and set your own goals.”
