2024 Paralympic Games schedules and South African athletes

The 2024 Paralympic Games officially start today. A total of 36 athletes will represent South Africa at the Games in a variety of sports from athletics and cycling to judo and wheelchair tennis. Here follows the full list of athletes and their sports categories:

Paralympians can look forward to receiving the same financial incentives as their Olympic peers this year! Gold will be awarded R400 000, silver will earn R200 000 and bronze will receive R75 000.

  • I was so impressed and moved by the wheelchair tennis doubles match with Donald and Lucas against the 1st ranked team from the Netherlands. So impressive to see the skill of D and L and the fun and team dynamics. I will forever be interested in this sport.
