To enhance workplace inclusivity and ensure employees with disabilities can perform their duties without limitations, the municipality of eThekwini secured three adapted vehicles, fitted with hand controls, for its staff who are battling with transport. Employees will have to do an assessment to ensure their fitness to drive before operating these vehicles.
If these vehicles prove to enhance inclusivity and assist employees with disabilities, the municipality will expand the programme by adding more adapted vehicles. The ultimate goal is to offer a solution to the long-standing transport issues faced by employees with disabilities.
